Silently, I wait
The underside of the world
All I have as home
Here I come, out of my cage
Food, my first instinct
Crawling up the tree for leaves
I’m growing bigger
My protection is leaving,
A new coat is here,
Fatigue has made me their aim
I climb up a branch
Wrap myself in the blanket,
There, I sleep for weeks.
Age creeps into my body,
Slowly, I mature.
Spreading out my painted wings,
I take my first step.
Into the magnificent.
